Del Reeves

Del Reeves achieved stardom on the wings of a voice that projected enthusiasm and personality. So it's not surprising that his four biggest hits, "Girl On The Billboard" (#1 in 1965), "Good Time Charlie's" (#3 in 1968), "Belles Of Southern Bell" (#4 in 1965), and "Lookin' At The World Through A Windshield" (#5 in 1968) were upbeat songs about life rather than soulful songs about love. To watch Del Reeves perform is a lot like being a guest at a great party.ly landing with United Artists, and there he would stay for the rest of his long hit-making recording career. At United Artists he clicked immediately with "Girl On The Billboard", and followed with "Belles Of Southern Belle", then another Top 10 hit, "Women Do Funny Things To Me." Del was a breath of fresh air to country music. His records were drenched with fun and personality, and before long he had his own nationally syndicated TV show, Del Reeves' Country Carnival. The Grand Ole Opry also noticed. In 1966 he became a member, and cried in the middle of "Girl On The Billboard" during his first appearance. —Michael Kosser
