Alabama Biography |
|
| Alabama is simply the most successful band in the history of country music. A product of Fort Payne, AL, members Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry, Jeff Cook, and Mark Herndon had their first big hits in the early 1980s. This was during a time when new Country artists were being turned away from radio in droves. Before long Alabama's albums on RCA Records were selling multiple platinum, and they were designated Top Country Group numerous times by the Country Music Association, Academy of Country Music, and all of the trade magazines that covered Country. Major hits include "Old Flame," "Love In The First Degree," and "Feels So Right." In 2003, following a quarter century of touring and hitmaking, Alabama announced their intention to retire. |
