Andy Williams Biography |
|
| Andy Williams' musical career took off when he was still a child in the small town of Wall Lake, IA. Andy made his show business debut at the tender age of eight, singing with his brothers in The Williams Brother Quartet. Thanks to exposure on WHO's Iowa Barn Dance, Andy Williams and his brothers recorded Swinging on a Star in 1944 with the help of one of their biggest fans, Bing Crosby. Andy Williams released his first solo album, Andy Williams Sings Steve Allen, in 1956 after working on The Steve Allen Show. Andy quickly had his first Top 10 song with "Canadian Sunset." Among Andy William's earliest hits were "Butterfly," "Lonely Street", and "The Hawaiian Wedding Song," the song that garnered Andy the first of his five Grammy nominations. Andy Williams played to a more adult audience in 1962 with the album Moon River and Other Great Movie Themes, which contained the title song for which he became best known. In the '90s Andy Williams opened a theatre and resort in Branson, MO. |
