Bill Carlisle Biography |
|
| After two decades of playing various radio stations around the country and recording with his brother Cliff, Bill Carlisle started his own family group. In 1952 Bill Carlisle had a Top Ten hit with a song he wrote called "Too Old To Cut The Mustard." Bill Carlisle and the Carlisles had three more Top Ten hits on Mercury Records the following year with "No Help Wanted," "Knothole," and "Is Zat You Myrtle." Over the next few years they recorded on a number of labels, then in 1965 Bill had a Top Five solo hit with "What Kinda Deal Is This?" By this time Bill Carlisle was in his late 50s but he still had more than three decades to go as a favorite on the Grand Ole Opry. At the age of 90 he was still "Jumping Bill" Carlisle, albeit with a walker. Bill Carlisle Discography |
