Bobby Bare Biography
A young Bobby Bare was so keen on playing music that he actually built his own first guitar. Before long, the teenager was playing in a local Springfield, Ohio, band. In 1958, Bobby Bare's first recording, "All American Boy", was actually credited under the name of Bobby Bare's friend, Bill Parsons. "All American Boy" was quite a surprise, becoming the second biggest single in the United States during December of '58. After completing his service in the Army, Bobby, along with his roommate, Willie Nelson, focused on their musical careers. At first, Bobby was more interested in becoming a pop star. Fortunately, he returned to country where he successfully fused folk, rock and pop into a very original sound that would take him far. Bobby Bare would go on to record for RCA, Mercury, and United Artists. Among Bobby Bare's biggest hits were "Shame on Me," "500 Miles from Home," and "Marie Laveau." To this day, Bobby Bare remains a big influence on scores of both established and aspiring musicians.
