Bobby Helms Biography |
|
Bobby Helms' stay as a chart-topping artist was relatively short, and yet he had three records so big that they would have made any Country singer proud. In 1957 Decca Records released Bobby Helms' version of "Fraulein," which shot up to #1 and remained on the Billboard Country singles charts for 52 weeks, one of the longest running hits in the history of Country music. He followed up with "My Special Angel," which not only went to #1 in Country but crossed over to be one of the biggest pop ballads of the year. Bobby Helms next effort was "Jingle Bell Rock," which became one of those Christmas classics that never dies. Nearly fifty years later it's still a radio regular during Christmas season, and it has sold well over a million copies.
