In the '40s a number of fine Country gospel groups emerged, including the Brown's Ferry Four. Early on the Brown's Ferry Four consisted of the still-young Delmore Brothers, Grandpa Jones and Merle Travis and their home base was WLW in Cincinnati. In later years new members replaced the old, but Grandpa Jones never forgot his gospel quartet experience. In the 70s, when he was a regular on Hee Haw, he made the Hee Haw Gospel Quartet a regular feature of the show.
