Charlie Louvin Biography |
|
After Charlie Louvin and Ira Louvin broke up in 1963, Charlie launched a solo career. Two of Charlie Louvin's first three chart records went Top Ten, and while he never hit those heights again, his records were often fun and interesting. Two of them, Will You Visit Me On Sundays and What Are Those Things (With Big Black Wings), both Top Twenty chart records, were grim, almost Gothic, sagas harkening back to the tragedy hillbilly songs of the early 1900s. Charlie Louvin also had a Top Twenty duet with Melba Montgomery, "Something To Brag About." Over the years Charlie Louvin remained a reliable star of the Grand Ole Opry, and he continues to keep the legacy of the Louvin Brothers alive with a museum in Bell Buckle, Tennessee.
