Chet Atkins Biography |
|
Chet Atkins is probably the best-known guitar player to emerge from the Nashville music scene, but Chet's guitar style embraced many kinds of music. After a number of years playing various locales Chet Atkins moved to Nashville in 1950 and was soon a steady player on session dates in the growing Nashville recording industry. Over many years starting in 1953, RCA Victor released a hugely successful series of Chet Atkins instrumental albums. In 1957 Chet Atkins became head of RCA's Nashville office, and over the next three decades was one of the principal guiding forces of American Country music. During that time he not only oversaw the careers of such stalwarts as Jim Reeves, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Charley Pride, Don Gibson, Eddie Arnold and Elvis, he continued to release great Chet Atkins guitar albums and played to packed houses around the country. In 1973 Chet Atkins became the youngest member ever elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame. Chet Atkins Discography |
