Chubby Wise Biography |
|
One of Country's all-time great fiddlers, Chubby Wise is one of many musicians who honed his skills as a member of Bill Monroe's Bluegrass Boys during the 40s. From 1954 through 1970 Chubby Wise was an important part of Hank Snow's Rainbow Ranch Boys, and his reputation as a fiddler skyrocketed. Through the 70s Chubby Wise did a lot of fiddling at Texas dances and also recorded a number of albums for the Stoneway record label. Chubby Wise performed at hundreds of bluegrass festivals, recorded a pair of CDs for the Pinecastle label and was an active performer almost until his death in 1996. Chubby Wise was a virtuoso fiddle player who never gained the fame of hit recording artists. True lovers of acoustic Country music, however, seek out Chubby Wise's music for its taste and artistry.
