C.W. McCall Biography |
|
| C.W. McCall's real name was William Fries and his business was advertising, but he turned an inspiration into the biggest Country hit of 1975 with the dramatic trucking narrative called "Convoy." It hit #1 on both the Country and pop charts, stayed #1 in Country for six weeks and inspired a major motion picture of the same name. C.W. McCall had other classics, too, notably with "Wolf Creek Pass" and "Roses For Mama." As the C.B. and Country car-chase movie crazes waned, so did the recording career of C.W. McCall, but his trucker sagas remain as the best of their genre in the history of Country music. |
