David Allan Coe Biography |
|
David Allan Coe brought a whole lot of attitude to Country music. Prison time, tattoos, earrings and rough-hewn songs made him an outlaw through and through, and somehow he made it work, no small feat in a Country music business constantly concerned with image. In the early '70s David Allan Coe began to get his songs recorded by other artists, and in 1973 he signed an artist deal with Columbia Records. At Columbia David Allan Coe released twenty-six albums and charted many singles, notably "You Never Even Called Me By My Name," "Longhaired Redneck," "The Ride," "Mona Lisa Lost Her Smile," and "She Used To Love Me A Lot."
