Delmore Brothers Biography
Talk to almost any Country brother duo, and you'll find that their influences directly or indirectly begin with the Delmore Brothers. Alton and Rabon Delmore go so far back you can find them in the cast of the Grand Ole Opry back in 1933. Over the years the Delmore Brothers recorded on Columbia, Bluebird, Decca and King, worked at numerous radio stations, and often struggled to make a living even though their harmonies and fine guitar work made them a first class Country act. Among the Delmore Brothers' best known recordings are "Blues Stay Away From Me," "Brown's Ferry Blues," and "Gonna Lay Down My Old Guitar." Over the years people have begun to realize that Alton was one of the great Country songwriters of his era.
