Elmo and Patsy Biography
Elmo and Patsy will forever be known as the one-hit wonders that brought us "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer." This novelty act consisted of the husband and wife duo Dr. Elmo (he was a veterinarian) and Patsy Shropshire. They first toured as a bluegrass band up and down the Frisco Bay area. It was here where they were introduced to the Christmas classic by songwriter and friend Randy Brooks. The song was released to San Francisco radio in 1979, and the rest is history. The couple eventually divorced in the mid 1980's, but Elmo still toured and recorded. Throughout the 1990's he cut various novelty songs, but they never showed up on the charts.
