Ernie Ashworth Biography

In 1963 Ernie Ashworth had one of the Classic Country hits of all time with his rendition of Harlan Howard's "Talk Back Trembling Lips." He has made a career off that song for four decades, but there was more to Ernie Ashworth than one hit. In 1950 Ernie Ashworth arrived in Nashville, and his songwriting skills earned him a songwriting deal with Acuff Rose. Soon, Ernie Ashworth's songs were being recorded by top Country stars, and in 1960 he broke big as a Country singer with two Top Ten records on Decca. Two years later Ernie Ashworth was signed to Acuff Rose's in-house label, Hickory, and over the next four years had five Top Ten hits including the #1 smash, "Talk Back Trembling Lips." In 1964 Ernie Ashworth became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. His easily identifiable Country tenor and lip suits have been part of the Opry scene ever since.
