Fats Domino Biography

Fats Domino was not only a 1950's favorite, but has inspired jazz, rock, and country artists, alike. Fats was born Antoine Dominique Domino in 1928 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The R&B giant charted 66 songs on the US Hot 100. His first signature song, "Ain't That A Shame," was his first top ten hit. In 1956, Fats' released his most successful cut, "Blueberry Hill." It was #2 on the top 40 and a #1 R&B hit for 11 weeks! Fats' music inspired The Beatles' Paul McCartney to write and sing the hit "Lady Madonna." Domino had a cameo in the movie "Any Which Way You Can," where he performed "Whiskey Heaven." However, in the 1980's, Fats called it quits and just lived comfortably with his family until 2004, when Hurricane Katrina slammed into the Gulf of Mexico. Everyone feared for his life because he refused to leave his home. After the storm hit, he was rescued by the Coast Guard. He is currently rebuilding his home. He says he will never leave 'The Big Easy'.
