Flatt and Scruggs Biography |
|
Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs were two of the many alumni of Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys who left Bill to establish their own names in country and bluegrass music. In 1948 Flatt, the bluegrass tenor singer, and Scruggs, one of Bluegrass's best and most innovative banjo pickers, left Monroe to start their own group, the Foggy Mountain Boys. Over the next two decades Flatt and Scruggs were among the most popular bluegrass acts. In 1949 they recorded "Foggy Mountain Breakdown", and many years later it became a featured tune in the award-winning film "Bonnie and Clyde." Their recording "The Ballad of Jed Clampett" became the theme song of the wildly successful "Beverly Hillbillies" Tv show, and was a number 1 country hit. Flatt and Scruggs became members of the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1985. br>Flatt & Scruggs Discography |
