Grandpa Jones Biography |
|
Louis Marshall Jones (Grandpa Jones) is best remembered for his long run on the successful TV show Hee-Haw, but he was a very important Country performer. In an era when Country was striving to adjust its music to more popular tastes, when many people sneered at the banjo and turned their backs on traditional Country folk songs, Grandpa Jones treasured both, keeping claw-hammer banjo style alive and entertaining fans with the songs of Country music pioneers as well as traditional gospel songs. For many years he was a fan favorite on the Grand Ole Opry and, in 1978, Grandpa Jones was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame. br>Grandpa Jones Discography |
