Jimmie Skinner Biography

Jimmie Skinner recorded for at least a half dozen small labels in his career, but his success came on Mercury, where he charted nine times between 1957 and 1960. Jimmie Skinner's biggest chart records were "I Found My Girl In The U.S.A.," a Top Ten in 1957, "Dark Hollow," a #7 on the Billboard Country chart in '59, and "Reasons To Live," which just missed the Top Ten in 1960. He also wrote a number of songs that were very successful for other artists. Though Jimmie Skinner's origins were the Kentucky-southern Ohio area, he worked in radio in Tennessee and West Virginia and for a long time had a lucrative record store mail order record business located in Cincinnati.
