Johnny Rodriguez Biography |
|
Johnny Rodriguez was one of the very best to follow in the footsteps of Merle Haggard. Discovered by Tom T. Hall and Bobby Bare, Johnny Rodriguez came to Nashville, signed with RCA, and clicked with his first single, "Pass Me By," which was a Top Ten hit in 1972. He followed with three #1s in 1973, "You Always Come Back (To Hurting Me)," "Ridin' My Thumb to Mexico," and "That's the Way Love Goes." Over the next five years Johnny Rodriguez continued to have hits on RCA, won a number of awards, and began to appear in movies and TV drama roles. In the late '70s Johnny Rodriguez moved over to Epic Records and continued to have hits for a while, but in the '80s personal problems and the natural passage of time removed him from the ranks of hit-makers. But Johnny Rodriguez was one of Country's biggest stars of the '70s. br>Johnny Rodriguez Discography |
