It's difficult to describe just how important the Jordanaires have been to popular music in general and Country music in particular. The Jordanaires began as a gospel group and in 1951 got their first major record deal. Soon they were in demand as background singers for artists like Red Foley and Hank Snow, but they really hit the big time when they started backing Elvis on his early RCA records. The Jordanaires toured with him, and when they weren't touring, they were singing on a huge number of sessions in and out of Nashville. In the 50s, 60s and 70s the Jordanaires sang on hundreds of hit records. One year alone they sang on records that sold more than thirty million copies. With Gordon Stoker as the last original Jordanaire, the Jordanaires continued to perform in Las Vegas into the new millennium. br>Jordanaires Discography
