Kentucky Headhunters Biography
The Kentucky Headhunters combine an improbable name with an even more improbable style but for a while they really made it work. They came from a southern rock band called "Itchy Brother." In 1989 the Kentucky Headhunters landed a record deal with Mercury and released a groundbreaking album, called "Pickin' On Nashville," that sold close to two million records around the world. Their riotous version of the Bill Monroe classic "Walk Softly On This Heart Of Mine" was not their biggest chart hit but it was their best. It took the industry by storm and helped them garner an incredible number of awards from all the major country organizations.
