Kris Kristofferson Biography

Kris Kristofferson came to Nashville in the 1960s and parleyed his struggling songwriting career into huge songwriting success, then recording success, then movie stardom. Suddenly, in a few years' time, Kris Kristofferson scored a series of huge hits with songs like "Me And Bobby McGee," "Help Me Make It Through The Night," "Sunday Morning Coming Down," and "And For The Good Times." Many of these songs became instant classics for other artists. Then Kris put his gravelly voice to work on record and what he lacked in vocal skills he more than made up for in sincerity. In 1973 Kris Kristofferson had a #1 hit on "Why Me." He seemed to operate well as the hippie generation's gift to Country music and had a mystique and charisma that brought him success in films. In the 80s Kris Kristofferson joined Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson to form The Highwaymen, a group that toured and recorded with some success.
