Lewis Grizzard Biography |
|
Lewis Grizzard (b. 10-20-49 Ft. Benning, GA) was one of the most successful southern comedians of the late 80's and early 90's. His father, an army captain, abandoned Grizzard when he was a young boy, and we went to live with his mother in Moreland, Georgia; he spoke frequently about this time of his life in his writings. Lewis Grizzard attended the University of Georgia. At 23 he became the executive sports editor for the Atlanta Journal, making him the youngest person to ever hold that position. After moving to Chicago to be a sports editor, Louis Grizzard began writing a regular column in the Atlanta Journal. This column became so popular that it was soon syndicated nationwide. Books and hilarious live performances followed. Many of these shows were recorded and turned into very successful comedy albums. Unfortunately, Lewis Grizzard's health failed him at 47 when he died from complications of a congenital heart valve defect on March 20, 1994. br>Lewis Grizzard Discography |
