Loretta Lynn Biography

Many Country fans consider Loretta Lynn to be the greatest of all the female Country singers. As everybody who ever saw the movie "Coal Miner's Daughter" knows, back in 1960 she and husband Mooney worked her record "Honky Tonk Girl" into a Top-15 radio hit. The record caught the attention of the Decca label which led to a long succession of major hit Country records. Many of Loretta Lynn's hits especially appealed to ordinary housewives, songs like "Don't Come Home A-Drinkin'," "Fist City," "You Ain't Woman Enough," and "One's On The Way," all (or nearly all) making it to the top of the charts. Her autobiographical song, "Coal Miner's Daughter," became one of the great Country classics. Loretta Lynn won a huge number of awards, and her duets with Conway Twitty made them perhaps the most popular male-female recording duo in Country history.
