Mac Davis Biography

Mac Davis had great success as a songwriter for several years before he signed with Columbia Records in 1970. Two years later he had his first major hit with "Baby Don't Get Hooked On Me," a #1 pop record that also made it to the Top Twenty on the Country singles charts. Over the next decade and a half Mac Davis did not have a big winning streak but he had enough hits to keep a splendid career going with records like "Stop And Smell The Roses," "Rock 'n Roll (I Gave You The Best Years Of My Life)," "It's Hard To Be Humble," "Let's Keep It That Way," "Hooked On Music" and "You're My Best Friend." As his career progressed Mac Davis became less of a pop star and more of a Country name. He appeared in several major motion pictures and also found success on the small screen.
