Maddox Brothers and Rose Biography

The Maddox Brothers and Rose hit the California airwaves in the late 1930s and started recording for Four Star Records after World War II. They had a high volume, high energy sound, and songs like "Hangover Blues" and "Alimony" brought them to the Grand Ole Opry in 1949. The success of the group made Rose Maddox a big name at a time when few women were making hit country records. In 1950 they left Four Star and signed with Columbia and in 1956 they split up. In the early 60s, Rose had a string of top 20 records, most notably "Sing A Little Song Of Heartache" (number 3 in '62), and "Loose Talk," a top 5 duet with Buck Owens."
