By the late 1970s and early 80s, gut-level honky tonk Country had made way for "drive" music, tempo songs that made people feel good driving to and from their jobs. Some of those songs were pure pop, but some were a lot of fun, well-written, well-produced and well sung. One of the best Country singers during that era was Oklahoma-born Mel McDaniel. Mel had a bunch of Top Ten hits including the Bob McDill classic, "Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On." It was a #1 record and garnered a Country Music Association nomination as Single of the Year in 1985. br>Mel McDaniel Discography
