Mel Street Biography
Mel Street was one of those great roots Country singers who never sold a lot of records but won wide acclaim within the industry for his great Country singles. In 1972 Mel Street stormed onto the Country charts with two Top Ten records, "Borrowed Angel" and "Lovin' On Back Streets." Other classic hits followed: "Walk Softly On The Bridges," "Lovin" On Borrowed Time," and "I Met A Friend Of Yours Today." In 1978, seemingly with a lot more music left in him, Mel Street took his own life.
