Melba Montgomery Biography

In 1974, after a moderately successful career recording for United Artists, Nugget Records, Musicor, and Capitol, Melba Montgomery scored a huge #1 Country hit with the great Harlan Howard ode to motherhood, "No Charge." Before then she had been known primarily for hit duets with George Jones ("We Must Have Been Out Of Our Minds" and "Let's Invite Them Over"), Gene Pitney ("Baby, Ain't That Fine") and Charlie Louvin ("Did You Ever" and "Something To Brag About"). Melba Montgomery also achieved an excellent reputation as a hit songwriter.
