Osborne Brothers Biography |
| Bobby is the brother with the crystal clear high lonesome tenor voice. Sonny is the one with the great banjo-playing hands. Starting in the early fifties the Osborne Brothers performed as one of America's best bluegrass harmony acts. In 1963 they were signed by Decca Records and moved beyond their bluegrass raisings into a more radio-friendly Country sound. On Decca the Osborne Brothers had numerous chart records but never broke into the Top Ten. Nevertheless, their recording of "Rocky Top," released in 1968, stands as one of the Classic Country performances of all time even though it climbed no higher than #33 on the Billboard Country charts.
