Simply the greatest female singer in the history of Country music, with a style thoroughly unique, thoroughly honest. In 1957 Patsy Cline blasted onto the scene with a haunting bit of hurt titled "Walkin' After Midnight," which made it to the #3 position on the Billboard Country chart then crossed over and became a hot-selling pop record. For some reason she did not chart over the next four years then, suddenly, 1961 saw "I Fall To Pieces," "Crazy," and "She's Got You." All huge Country hits, all major pop crossovers. In March, 1963 Patsy Cline died in a plane crash, Country's version of "the day the music died." Two of Patsy Cline's best records came out that year, "Sweet Dreams (of You)" and "Faded Love," and they were Top Ten records, but one can only imagine the magic that was lost when we lost Patsy Cline. There was not, is not, will not be, could never be, another like her. br>Patsy Cline Discography |
