Patsy Montana Biography

Patsy Montana was the first real female recording star in Country music. In the early '30s she worked in radio in California, and in 1933 she moved her talents to Chicago where she caught on with the National Barn Dance and began recording for the American Record Corporation. In 1935 Patsy Montana had a huge hit with "I Want To Be A Cowboy's Sweetheart." She recorded other yodeling cowgirl songs in succeeding years, songs like "Rodeo Sweetheart," "Shy Anne From Old Cheyenne," and "I Wanna Be A Cowboy's Dream Girl." After this brief period of popularity Patsy Montana's recording career waned, but she continued to perform around the country for many years.
