Red Sovine Biography |
|
Red Sovine had a warm, human way with a recitation, and during his career he made some classic Country records on the Starday label including the #1 hit "Giddyup Go" in 1965 and the Gothic narrative "Phantom 309," which was a Top Ten hit in 1967. Prior to Red Sovine's Starday deal he had deals with MGM and Decca, and though he cut some fine Country sides on both labels, he never really broke big until "Giddyup Go." In 1975 Red Sovine came back with the biggest hit of his career, "Teddy Bear," a gold-selling #1 Country hit that also climbed to the top half of the pop charts. br>Red Sovine Discography |
