Ricky Skaggs Biography |
|
At a time when Country had gone so middle of the road that there was little Country left, Ricky Skaggs was a breath of fresh air when he got his first major record deal with Epic in 1981. By that time Ricky had had many years of experience as a singer and musician with great Country and bluegrass acts. He quickly scored a Top Ten hit with "You May See Me Walkin'," then followed with a pair of #1 smashes, "Crying My Heart Out Over You" and "I Don't Care." In 1982 the Country Music Association selected Ricky Skaggs as both Horizon Award winner and Male Vocalist of the Year. Other #1's followed, including "Heartbroke," "I Wouldn't Change You If I Could," "Highway 40 Blues," "Don't Cheat In Our Hometown," "Honey (Open That Door)," "Uncle Pen," and "Country Boy." Unlike most Country acts, Ricky Skaggs recorded many of his hits with his own band instead of session musicians. Over the years Ricky Skaggs has done as much as anybody to keep the "Country" in Country music. br>Ricky Skaggs Discography |
