Rodney Crowell Biography |
|
Texas-born Rodney Crowell gained his popularity during the traditionalist movement of the late 70's and early 80's with the likes of Guy Clark, Steve Earle and Townes Van Zandt. He is a master songwriter who has had his tunes performed by several of country music's hardest hitters. He became a part of Emmylou Harris' band, The Hot Band, in 1975 and became Emmylou's primary songwriter. Harris popularized several Crowell tunes like "Till I Gain Control Again," "Bluebird Wine," and "Ain't Livin' Long Like This." He left the Hot Band after a couple of years and formed The Cherry Bombs. Despite his unprecedented songwriting abilities, his first couple of hits was both cover songs ("Elvira" and "A Fool Such As I"). Crowell's tunes soon became recognized through his performances after his mark had really already been made. He married Roseanne Cash around 1979 and divorced in 1991. Crowell still tours today and is recognized in hindsight as a very formidable force in Country/Americana music. br>Rodney Crowell Discography |
