Sandy Posey Biography

Back in 1966 Sandy Posey came out of nowhere with two pop smashes on MGM Records, "Born A Woman" and "Single Girl." Though Sandy Posey was only 19 there was a lonely, haunting quality to her voice, and she seemed destined for great things. But in pop music you can never tell about the future, and by 1968 Sandy Posey's pop career was about done. She resurfaced in Country in 1971 on Columbia with a Top 20 record on a song called "Bring Jim Home Safely To Me." Over the next decade, recording for Columbia, Monument and Warner Brothers, Sandy Posey charted a number of times, often, in the fashion of the times, recording old pop hits. Though none of them were huge hits, her vocal qualities made many of them memorable. By 1983 Sandy Posey's career as a solo recording artist was about done, but she continued to tour and do background vocal session work.
