Slim Whitman Biography |
|
In 1979, when many considered Slim Whitman's recording career to be over, Suffolk marketing released an album of twenty Slim Whitman recordings for TV sales. The album sold more than four million copies, becoming the most successful TV album in history. Slim Whitman (born Ottis Dewey Whitman, Jr.) signed with Imperial Records in 1951, and over the next three years he had five Top Ten hits, including "Indian Love Call," a #2 smash that became his signature song. Slim Whitman continued to chart over the next two decades and gained a huge following both in both the United States and United Kingdom. Regardless of how many people before him may have recorded and performed a particular song, Slim Whitman's steel guitar-like falsetto vocal licks instantly identify him and put a fresh slant on any song. br>Slim Whitman Discography |
