Sons of the Pioneers Biography
Leonard Slye (Roy Rogers), Bob Nolan, Tim Spencer, Hugh Farr and Karl Farr are generally considered the "original" Sons of the Pioneers. They popularized a group style of singing American cowboy songs. Two of the members of Sons of the Pioneers, Bob Nolan and Tim Spencer, were great songwriters. Consequently we have a great legacy of music from this group including the classics "Cool Water," "Tumblin' Tumbleweeds," "Way Out There," "Blue Prairie," and "Room Full Of Roses." The Sons of the Pioneers songs were featured in many western movies made in the thirties and forties. They also recorded successfully for Decca and RCA Records.
