T. Texas Tyler Biography

Born David Luke Myrick, T. Texas Tyler signed with little Four Star Records in 1946 and had several Country hits, including "Filipino Baby," "Dad Gave My Dog Away," "My Bucket's Got A Hole In It," and the very successful "Deck Of Cards." T. later signed with Decca, and he scored a hit in 1953 with "Bumming Around." By the mid-50s T. Texas Tyler's hit-making days were over but he toured with Hank Snow in 1957 and, for a time, was a member of the Grand Ole Opry. In later years he recorded both gospel and secular music. Although T. Texas Tyler had some substance abuse problems, he was so well loved that he was widely known as "The Man with a Million Friends."
