Tom T. Hall Biography


Only a very few Country artists have established a totally unique niche within Country music. Tom T. Hall wrote story songs and carved out a great career singing them for his millions of fans who referred to him simply as "The Storyteller." In 1967 Tom T. Hall signed... with Mercury Records, and his first single, "I Washed My Face In The Morning Dew," cracked the Billboard Country charts' Top-30. His first real hit came a year later with "Ballad Of Forty Dollars." The following year he released, "A Week In A Country Jail," which became his first #1. Other major hits included, "The Year That Clayton Delaney Died," "(Old Dogs, Children, and) Watermelon Wine," and "I Love." In 1977 Tom T. Hall signed with RCA and continued to chart. His biggest years were behind him, but Tom T. Hall had written and sung a tremendous collection of great Country music.
